Description: This session aims to build a shared identification of Women Identified POC as world builders, culture shifters, and political strategists. It also aims to create a shared analysis of the conditions necessary for POC to assume this leadership and thrive in general. In this session, current Women Identified POC leaders connect their individual and their group’s lived experiences of standing in their power to a movement lineage.
Purpose:
To develop a shared cohort analysis about the unique qualities of a WOC led movements, campaigns, and organizations
To highlight what Women Identified POC leaders offer to their programs and organizations and what they are challenged by
Outcomes:
Participants acquire an analytical tool for exploring Women Identified POC leadership
They identify personal and collective characteristics of Women Identified POC leadership
They strengthen cohort bonds
Process: about 90 minutes minimum plus breaks with 16 people (up to 145min if in-person or additional time to pair breakouts)
“It was also really important to be able to lean in to vulnerability when thinking about [internalized racial oppression] and other internalized oppression. When it's just [women of color] we can be real about our struggles without feeling like our vulnerability will be weaponized against us."
